On April 12 Bioenergy Europe joined FIPER for its event ”Per un’Europa rinnovabile e sostenibile. Dal Manifesto di Ventotene al Manifesto delle bioenergie”. The event was also an opportunity to share the Italian translation of the Bioenergy Europe Manifesto.
The Italian association FIPER hosted a sectoral debate ahead of the European Elections, bringing together forestry experts, bioenergy stakeholders, EU policy experts and European Elections’ candidates. The event took place in person in Padova, Italy.
FIPER highlighted the challenges at both national and European levels, focusing on REDIII and addressing issues like the classification of trees outside forests and renewable energy communities. FIPER pushed for a full recognition of the biomass value chain, highlighting its potential for national and European energy security in the energy transition.
Bioenergy Europe bridged the discussion in the second panel, connecting future MEPs with national experts. Ennio Prizzi, Bioenergy Europe Policy Officer, presented the key contributions of bioenergy in defossilising EU’s energy system. The role of Bioenergy in the next mandate is explained in detail in Bioenergy Europe’s Manifesto. Vanessa Gallo, FIPER Secretary General, moderated the discussion while national stakeholders engaged in an open dialogue with EU candidates, exploring EU policies and initiatives related to bioenergy and the broader energy transition.
