Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) is a systematic method used to assess the environmental impacts associated with all stages of a product’s life cycle, from raw material extraction (cradle) to production, use, and end-of-life disposal or recycling (grave).
LCA evaluates factors such as greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, water consumption, and resource depletion involved in the cultivation, processing, transportation, and utilization of biomass resources. This comprehensive approach helps identify opportunities for reducing environmental impacts, supports sustainable decision-making, and allows for the comparison of different energy systems and products based on their overall footprint.
