Biorural Project – Webinar Series – Accelerating biobased solutions in European rural areas

Biorural Project – Accelerating biobased solutions in European rural areas

How can we foster the potential of rural areas? Bioeconomy can be the answer. The Biorural project seeks to share successful experiences of small-scale bio-based solutions to strengthen bioeconomy in rural areas. Bioenergy Europe’s members CERTH, Avebiom and AIEL are official partners in the project. Bioenergy Europe joined the 5th knowledge-exchange BioRural webinar on April 16th.

Bioenergy Europe participated in the 5th knowledge-exchange webinar, which focused on basic concepts and technical principles in bioeconomy. During this webinar, Bioenergy Europe’s Business Development and  Membership Director Manolis Karampinis delivered a presentation on the role of bioenergy at the EU level, from electricity to heat, and discussed future perspectives of the sector.

BioRural is a three-year project co-funded under Horizon Europe. Coordinated by CERTH, it builds a diverse and dynamic consortium of 19 partners from 14 European countries representing research entities, extension services, associations, SMEs and innovation brokers. Biorural empowers rural communities by sharing best practices, replicating successful projects, and building new skills and capacities. Some of the main actions under the project are:

  • Assess and promote bio-based solutions in rural areas
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange and capacity building for the European rural Bioeconomy
  • Develop and continuously optimise an online open stakeholders’ tool (BioRural Toolkit)
  • Create rural development blueprints for regional and business scale-up of resilient and circular biobased solutions in rural areas
