Data collected by Bioenergy Europe
Bioenergy Europe collects non-personal data and personal identification data. Non-personal data cannot be used to personally identify you, such as anonymous usage data, preferences you submit to us and preferences that are generated based on your interactions with Bioenergy Europe’s websites.
As a member of Bioenergy Europe or as an external stakeholder, you may provide us with personal data when using our website, interacting with us by email, on social media or during events, when registering to our events, newsletters, webinars and other activities. The data we collect is gathered on our CRM and database. It includes your organisation name, title (or gender), job title, first name, family name, function, telephone number, mailing address, e-mail, social media account(s) as well as - where applicable, a classification of your interest in our activities and your organisation key business. Bioenergy Europe does not process Special data, such as health data, racial or ethnic origin and biometric data.
How data is collected and used by Bioenergy Europe
You provide Bioenergy Europe with most of the data we collect. We collect and process your data when you:
- Fill our online forms via our website or fillable online documents.
- Message us via email or post mail.
- Subscribe to our newsletter or webinars.
- Use or website via your browser’s cookies.
- Provide your contact details to any Bioenergy Europe staff.
- Contact us by phone.
- Contract our licensing services. Bioenergy Europe may also receive your data indirectly from the Conformity Assessment Bodies you contracted for the ENplus® or GoodChips® certifications.
The information that you provide us with will be used for the purpose of contacting you, fulfilling your requests or facilitating your access to members-only content and or providing you with relevant and updated information about our organisation, its activities, its positions and publications.
For membership management and general administration: Bioenergy Europe has legitimate interests in the processing of personal data of the contact persons across its membership for administering or informing its membership or for the governance of the association (such as the organisation of general assemblies and board meetings). Bioenergy Europe also processes the personal data of representatives and contact persons of entities with which Bioenergy Europe contracts, such as consortiums, services providers or consultancies.
For projects (technical), publication and advocacy purposes: Bioenergy Europe processes contact details of journalists, Members of European Parliament, officials from the European Commission and from EU Member States, academics, consultants and industry experts and European affairs stakeholders for the purposes of carrying out its research and advocacy activities.
For events organisation: Bioenergy Europe processes identification data of individuals who register to participate to events and conferences it organises for the purpose of managing the registration, invoicing and participation to such events under the general terms and conditions that are expressly accepted by the individuals and or based on consent for certain personal data.
For websites security and content access: Bioenergy Europe processes identification data from individuals who register themselves on websites managed by Bioenergy Europe and give their express consent to receive newsletters or information from Bioenergy Europe. Bioenergy Europe also processes identification data from members or content subscribers to facilitate their personal access to the meeting documents of their working groups or subscribed content.
For certification activities: Bioenergy Europe processes limited identification data received through the certification process of the company or by the certified company at a later stage (for example, through email exchanges) or services providers contracted by the certified company. This information is only used for communications related to their certification.
Bioenergy Europe also processes data from the Conformity Assessment employees, for legitimated purpose related to their certification activities towards the ENplus® and GoodChips® certification schemes.
Data sharing and explicit consent, retention and right of consultation & modification
As a non-profit organisation Bioenergy Europe does not share or sell any personal data to third parties for any commercial purposes. Your personal data will not be shared with any other third parties unless we would be required to do so by law or to comply with a court order served upon us in connection with our website(s), social media, the implementation of the EU GDPR or to protect and defend our legal rights and interests and those of our members.
Personal data may be shared with Bioenergy Europe members and other relevant contact for the same legitimate interest and purpose Bioenergy Europe uses them. With your consent, Bioenergy Europe may share your data with partner companies to provide contracted services, or services linked to your activities.
Personal data may be shared with our services providers acting as data processors. These service providers process personal data only on behalf of the controller to execute the services contracted with Bioenergy Europe. The data processors shall not use the personal data for commercial purposes without the consent of the right holder.
