The Bioenergy Association was created in 2012 and represents the interests of the bioenergy sector in Finland. The association has over 270 member organisations. It represents the entire bioenergy sector from land ownership to forest and energy companies, and technology and research in the field.
The association aims to promote the preconditions of production, use, competitiveness and economy of sustainable bioenergy and peat.
It fosters expertise and know-how in the sector and co-operation between its members. Through its operations, the association aims to increase the share of renewable and domestic energy to half of the entire energy consumption in Finland. The association aims to strengthen the position of sustainable bioenergy as Finland's largest energy source and get recognition for peat's role in the Finnish energy system. In the longer term, the aim is carbon neutrality in a way that also enables the use of local fuels. The association supervises the interests of its members and represents them when dealing with the key decision-makers of the sector.

Why did you join AEBIOM?

AEBIOM also provides a great platform to exchange information and ideas with other associations and key market players in the EU. We have a common goal to promote the use of sustainable bioenergy and thereby to move away from fossil-fuel based economy in Europe.
