Centre for Research and Technology-Hellas (CERTH) was founded in 2000; it is one of the leading research centres in Greece and listed among the TOP-20 EU research institutions with the highest participation in competitive research grants.
CERTH is essentially a self-supported Research Centre generating an average annual turnover of ~ € 25 Million; over 90% of the turnover is coming from competitive research projects and bilateral industrial research contracts. We employ more than 700 people, mostly scientists and engineers.
The Chemical Process and Energy Resources Institute (CPERI) of CERTH is based in three locations in Greece (Thessaloniki, Athens and Ptolemaida) and is active in several sectors of activity related to biomass and bioenergy: solid biofuels, transport biofuels, bio-electricity and CHP, biomass for domestic heating, upgrading technologies (pyrolysis, torrefaction) and bioeconomy, to name a few indicative.
Why did you join AEBIOM?
We consider AEBIOM as the leading EU-wide stakeholder for all biomass and bioenergy issues. Through participation in AEBIOM, CERTH would like to reach new audiences for its research results, identify new opportunities for international and European collaboration and establish links to policy makers.
