Vegetable oils and used natural fats come from households, the service industry and the food industry. Engine oils (minerals) are not taken into account. In some Member States there are organisations that collect this engine oil – from professional users and container parks – enabling businesses to then buy them and give them a second life.
Use
Vegetable oils and used natural fats are excellent raw materials for energy or material use. After filtration and chemical transformation, they can be used for:
- The production of biodiesel
- Through oleochemistry, in the production of detergents and biolubricants, but also in the production of candles or cosmetics
- Fuels for cogeneration
