Events
Back to Event OverviewBioenergy Europe is pleased to announce that the European Bioenergy Future (EBF 2022) conference will resume in Brussels, allowing the biomass industry to meet again in person! The EBF 2022 will take place on 22-23 November at the prestigious Steigenberger Wiltcher Hotel, located on the exclusive Avenue Louise shopping promenade in the centre of Brussels.
Where policy meets market.
We find ourselves at a crucial point in time for the transformation of the energy sector, with the ongoing energy crisis highlighting the central role that biomass can play to ensure energy security while substantially contributing to EU climate targets and carbon neutrality. With key EU legislation expected to be passed which will impact the bioenergy sector, it is now more important than ever to actively discuss and define the key features of a successful energy transition, assessing both the challenges and opportunities presented by the current political and economic context.
The European Bioenergy Future 2022 will bring together various market stakeholders from the bioenergy sector and connected wood industries, as well as institutional players and non-governmental organisations.
#EBF22 is set to be an enabling environment for fruitful networking and knowledge-sharing on market trends and the EU policy context, providing participants with clear and strategic insights into the sector’s future developments.
#EBF22 will be accompanied by a series of side events:
Workshops of the EU-funded projects:
The Role of Intermediate Bioenergy Carriers (MUSIC Workshop) will discuss how intermediate bioenergy carriers, such as torrefied biomass and pyrolysis oil, can provide solutions for the steel industry, transport fuel production and other applications.
Fossil-Free Future of Energy Intensive Industries (RE4Industry Workshop) is a workshop where policymakers, industry representatives and trade associations will discuss the potential of renewable solutions such as sustainable bioenergy. Challenges and opportunities in energy-intensive industries will be assessed.
Bioenergy Europe Working Groups:
The joint Sustainability and Competitiveness Working Group will address changes to the sustainability criteria of the Renewable Energy Directive, as well as the expected impact of the REPowerEU plan and the consequences of the Russian war in Ukraine for the sector.
The combined meeting of Working Group Pellets & Wood Supply will offer participants an opportunity to network, discuss the situation of the solid biomass market and learn from biomass market experts. The meeting will focus on the residential and industrial wood pellet markets, virgin and waste wood chips markets as well as the sawmill industry.
