EBF 2024 Moves Closer to Net Zero with High-Quality Carbon Removal Credits
The European Bioenergy Future (EBF) 2024, taking place on 20-21 November, makes a step towards sustainability by offsetting the on-site emissions of the event.
To move EBF 2024 closer to net-zero emissions, Bioenergy Europe has purchased high-quality permanent carbon removal credits from Carbonfuture. These credits are generated by SIOTUU CO2 Solutions in Fließerau, Austria.
Using innovative technology developed by Syncraft, member of Bioenergy Europe, SIOTUU uses residual wood to co-generate electricity, heat, and biochar. This represents a small but significant step, stressing Bioenergy Europe’s commitment to net zero.
Biochar Carbon Removal (BCR) is a key negative emission technology due to its ability to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and store it for extended periods. The deployment of biochar technologies can be achieved within a relatively short timeframe and has the potential for large-scale application.
