Wood at the Center: Shaping the Future of Wood Energy in Energy and Environmental Policies

11 October – Decarbonization, sustainability, and innovation took the spotlight at AIEL‘s General Assembly. Bioenergy Europe joined AIEL members in Villafranca di Verona for a day of insightful presentations and discussions on the Italian and European wood energy sector. The event highlighted the sector’s goals and explored future perspectives amid evolving energy and environmental policies.

AIEL’s President, Domenico Brugnoni, kicked off the assembly with a welcoming address, followed by a series of expert presentations covering different aspects of bioenergy. The first session provided an in-depth look at the Italian and European wood energy landscape, with a focus on policy developments and growth opportunities.

Given the importance of EU legislation for the sector, Bioenergy Europe’s Policy Director, Irene Di Padua, emphasized the significance of bioenergy in EU energy and environmental strategies. She addressed key regulatory topics currently shaping the industry, as well as future outlooks within the new European political framework.

The conference also served as a valuable networking opportunity, bringing together local stakeholders and public authorities engaged in renewable energy and the wood energy sector.
