Statistical Reports

The leading source of bioenergy statistics since 2007.

Since 2007, Bioenergy Europe’s Statistical Report has provided an in-depth overview of the bioenergy sector across the EU-27.

Enriched every year with new statistics and findings, it gathers unique data on the dynamics of the European bioenergy market from a growing number of international contributors, helping the industry, decision makers, investors and all bioenergy professionals to better assess the situation of bioenergy in Europe.

The Statistical Report provides our members with accurate, up-to-date information on the overall EU energy system, the current state of play of bio-heat and bioelectricity, the availability and dynamics of supply, and much more – including a whole chapter dedicated to statistics on pellet.

The full reports are free to all Bioenergy Europe members and non-members can gain a sample version of what the reports offer.  Want the full report? Find out how you can become a member today and gain exclusive insights into the bioenergy sector.

Pellets

Bioenergy Europe’s 2023 Pellets Report gathers data from the members of the European Pellet Council in order to describe the current state of the pellet market . The report explores different aspects of the market, such as production, consumption, prices, imports, exports, sales of heating appliances, etc.

This report provides data directly from Bioenergy Europe’s national contributors. It is an indispensable tool to address the current crisis and continue the development of the pellet market – as one of the key solutions to decarbonising energy production for homes, businesses and industries worldwide.

Landscape Report

Bioenergy Europe’s 2023 Landscape Statistical Report highlights the crucial role of bioenergy in the EU’s renewable landscape. While renewables show resilience, imported fossil fuels remain a concern, posing risks to energy security. Biomass leads as a sustainable alternative, with 10.2% of EU energy consumption. The report advocates for bioenergy in reaching the revised 42.5% renewable energy target for 2030.

Biomass Supply

Bioenergy Europe 2023 Statistical Report Biomass Supply and presents the state of play of forest management and biomass feedstock in the European Union. European forests continue to grow while almost 15% of total EU land use is unused and/or abandoned.

Bioelectricity

Bioenergy Europe’s 2023 Report on Bioelectricity unveils the role of bioelectricity for energy transition, providing the reader with detailed data analysis on current dynamics of electricity, renewable and not, with a focus on electricity produced from biomass (bioelectricity). Most of the figures included in the report are filtered by country, helping policy makers and investors to better calibrate their decision-making.

Questions relevant to the bioenergy industry will be raised and answered from within this report: Which fuels do we use? What are the carbon footprints from electricity generation in different countries? What role do different renewables play?

Biogas

Bioenergy Europe’s 2023 Report on Biogas focuses on the biogas sector in Europe and its upgraded version, bio-methane. The report takes a look at the biogas consumption and production in the EU and provides an in-depth analysis on the sectors state of play. Readers will be able to access state of the art information on the number of biogas plants in the EU countries and the type of feedstock that they use, among other matters.
